Nashville's Craft Pizza, Mastered One Slice at a Time

4.8-star pizza bar on McGavock Pike where dedication to the craft lands in every single bite.

About Us

The name Sho Pizza Bar comes from a Japanese concept meaning "master of one's craft," and the kitchen takes that seriously. Every pie that comes out of this East Nashville spot reflects the kind of focused, intentional cooking that turns a simple dinner into something people talk about for days. The heirloom ingredients, the house-made dough, the careful balance of toppings, none of it feels accidental.

Situated on McGavock Pike in the 37216 zip code, Sho draws a loyal crowd from East Nashville and well beyond. The interior decor sets a mood that feels considered rather than decorated-by-committee, and the staff brings a genuine warmth that reviewers notice again and again. Kevin and the rest of the team treat every table like a regulars' table.

With nearly 760 reviews averaging 4.8 stars, the reputation here is built on repeat visits, not hype. Start with the heirloom corona beans if they're on the menu, work through a Caesar big enough to share, and end with a pizza that makes every other slice in the city feel a little less special.

What We Offer

The menu at Sho is built around wood-fired, craft-style pizzas with toppings sourced for flavor rather than familiarity. Expect combinations that feel inventive without being gimmicky, and a crust that holds its own as the foundation it should be.

Beyond the pies, the kitchen sends out standout appetizers like the heirloom corona beans that regulars swear by, plus oversized Caesar salads that can anchor a full meal. The bar program complements the food rather than competing with it, making Sho a genuine pizza bar rather than just a restaurant with drinks.

Lunch service brings a dedicated prix-fixe option that delivers serious value without cutting corners. Whether you're dropping in solo at the bar or pulling together a group dinner, the team adapts without missing a beat.

"This is the best pizza in Nashville! Staff is very friendly and service was great. We got heirloom corona beans as an appetizer. Flavor was phenomenal. The ceaser salad was huge and we got the lunch portion. Very flavorful and plenty of cheese. The pizzas are sooooooo good. The sausage was my favorite. They also have dipping sauce for the crust. I can't wait to go back! Highly recommend 👌"

"Friends, fun, and the best pizza in town at Sho Pizza Bar! 🍕✨ The name means "master of one's craft," and you can taste that dedication in every bite. "Tried this place a couple times, but both were average. It's good, but it's not amazing. The interior decor is great, service is good, parking is a challenge if the main lot is full. If you get past the hype and star-owner name behind this place, the pizza is just ok. I was glad to see a new pizza spot pop up in Nashville, but the crust is extra dry and there's not a lot of "wow" to the flavor. The price is on the higher end. I did love the matcha tiramisu."

"The absolute best pizza I’ve ever had! I recently visited Sho Pizza Bar in East Nashville with my family, and it’s no surprise they earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand—the experience was flawless from start to finish. The atmosphere is effortlessly cool and modern, but still warm and welcoming. We sat in front of the chef’s counter, which I highly recommend; watching the "shokunin" (master craftsmen) work the wood-fired oven is like dinner and a show. It has that vibrant, high-energy East Nashville vibe but feels elevated and special. The wait staff were incredible. They were knowledgeable about the specific fermentation process of the dough (which makes it so light and airy!) and offered perfect recommendations for our daughter in law's food restrictions. They were attentive without being overbearing, making the whole night feel seamless. But the star is, of course, the pizza. This is genuinely the best pizza I have ever eaten. The crust is a scientific marvel—puffed and chewy with the perfect amount of char, yet so light it doesn't leave you feeling heavy. Whether you go for a classic Margherita or one of their more inventive "Sho-Stopper" pies, you can taste the quality of the imported Italian ingredients in every bite. If you’re in Nashville, this isn’t just a recommendation—it’s a requirement. Can’t wait to come back!"

"The food was amazing. We got the Godfather (our favorite of the visit) and the Employee Discount (also very good) and we were very impressed with the pizzas. The Caesar Salad was delicious. Full of cheese and what looked like bonito flakes. It was also large enough to share. The drinks were also very impressive. The Stawberry Sudachi Daiquiri is definitely a must try. The Yuzu Arnold Palmer was tart and refreshing. For dessert we had the Strawberry & Cream Pana Cotta and the Matcha Tiramisu. Both are amazing. The tiramisu was salty and sweet and the panna cotta was delicate and fruity. Our server, Maddie, was great and tentative without interrupting us unnecessarily. Her service was fantastic and really appreciate her. Thanks Sho Pizza for the lovely lunch."
